we've been busy settling into our house and enjoying the summer here. my parents have arrived and it's been nice with the extra helping hands around the house. nate and i are taking advantage of it and have done a few things while lucy hangs out with my parents. we decided to take a trip somewhere just the two of us. i wanted to go out of the country somewhere i've never been but nate wanted to stick close in case we had to hurry home for lucy. i guess you never know how she'll react. we've each been gone from lucy a couple nights but she's always had the other parent there. we'll see how it goes, i think she'll be fine. nate and i are headed to yellowstone in a few wks. i'm looking forward to it not only to experience yellowstone with nate but also a much needed break as a couple. last time i was in yellowstone was over 20yrs ago, i remember seeing lots of wildlife. I'm hoping we see a grizzly bear! after our bear encounter we seem to have gotten over our fear.
lucy's been singing different little songs, in the car, in her stroller, and i've heard her singing in the crib. her favorite song that she demands as soon as she gets in the car is "pumped up kicks" foster the people. what once used to be a pretty happy song for me has now turned into torture as i hear it about 50 times a day!
lucy has also mastered the rocks on pearl st. she climbs all over them. she seems to like to scramble and climb rocks but funny i don't see her climbing anything else at home. if we stay here i'm sure she'll be rock climbing. boulder is like the rock climbing capitol of the country. it's kinda of scary to think actually i'm not sure i want her getting into that. well at least how they do it out here. without ropes! it's called bouldering.
she's finally brave enough to go down the slides by herself. and she doesn't seem to mind the swings that much anymore.
we go on some long walks in the evening and we let her walk instead of the stroller. she likes it and we hope it gets her ready for hiking. because momma and dada are not giving up hiking even when your too heavy to carry.
hope everyone is enjoying summer!

...
it's been quite a long time since my last post. nate's sisters family were in town to visit us for a week and that was great. i was planning to do a post after they left and lucy went and deleted all of our awesome pictures from their stay here. i think i might have a few on my phone and some that macy had left me, i will post more on that later. after saying our sad goodbyes to them we had a week to quickly pack up and move. our lease was up at our condo and we've moved a few minutes away to a house. while the house is nice in a great neighborhood, we miss the energy and convenience of being downtown. there's nothing like walking downstairs and being in the heart of it all. we miss it.
it's taking us quite a bit of time to get unpacked here, mostly due to our lack of motivation. we are also expecting my parents this sunday. they will be staying with us through the summer. we are really looking forward to that.
give me some time to settle in and i will be back to the blog.

yoghurt covered raisins and the stolen pumpkin bread bite
this is what lucy does with yoghurt covered raisins...
i don't get it, she'll down a whole cup of plain raisins.
we went to the park one morning and on the way there i stopped to get a cup of coffee and a slice of the most divine pumpkin bread. i put the pumpkin bread in the bottom of the stroller and completely forgot about it. until we got back from the park and find this in the bottom of the stroller! some kid at the park had got into our pumpkin break and sneaked a bite or two!! and it looks like they gnawed right through the wrapper! kids and their antics! i swear grrr!

weekend...
our blog is starting to look like we are hiking fools. we've been practically living outside everyday. and on the weekends we're looking for new hikes. after seeing the bear last week, our first hike this weekend on saturday was not as much fun. we were so nervous we couldn't really enjoy it. we hiked betasso and it was pretty deserted while we were there. and then of course at the trailhead there's a big sign posted about mountain lions in that area. sunday we went and hiked royal arch with our friends and that was a crowded hike no need to worry about wildlife. but man was that an intense hike! vertical up all the way to the arch. that was a workout! even lucy was worn out despite the fact all she did was sit in the carrier.

| at betasso there were some historical buildings from the original betasso family! i love this stuff! |
| 100+ yr house, this one room log cabin that housed a family of 7 puts it in perspective for me as i worried about not finding a big enough place to live. |

how to wear a little kid out
head to the pool! lucy's been asking to go to the pool for quite some time now. i'm not even sure how she remembers what a pool is? i can only think that she remembers being on vacation in turks and caicos last summer, because i think that was the last time she was in a pool. she also asks to go to the beach when she sees pictures of a beach. and my response is always go ask daddy. =) maybe he'll get the hint and take us. although i still feel like we're on vacation here.
we're going to work with lucy to teach her how to swim. i've been unsuccessful at signing her up for swim classes. they seem to always be full. at least she loves the water so that's a good start. we take her to the north boulder rec center which is very close to us. there was a girl at the pool last time that was lucy's age and could swim underwater by herself. inspiring!
