this summer was our first time camping as a family, and my first time camping ever.  it seemed like overnight we had acquired a big 6person tent, camp stove, lamps, and a paddle board.  the 6person tent quickly didn't seem so big after lucys pack n play went in there along with our queen size air mattress, foam topper and all of our gear.  hey, if i'm going to sleep outside why not make it as comfortable as possible??  lucy sure is comfortable and cozy in her pack n play.  although i don't know what we'll do next year when she won't fit in the pack n play.
we only got to go camping twice this past summer with all the house stuff we were working on.  but next year we are planning on getting out as much as possible.  the campsites out here fill up pretty fast too.
we really enjoyed turquoise lake up by leadville.  beautiful glassy lake.  the campsites were right by the lake.  hoping to go again next year.

lucy likes sitting out from while nate paddle boards

nate and our friend brett each with a little one out front!

this is when they got back and i didn't see lucy on the front and my heart skipped a beat.  but she actually fell asleep and is laying down on the board.

i wanna go back!

nate loves cooking breakfast.

look at that water, so peaceful out there

we went up to breckenridge this past weekend and lucy got to take a ski lesson on the mountain.  she's never actually skied on snow before.  she took some classes at shredder in boulder earlier this year.  its this indoor ski place for kids.  gets them ready for the ski season indoors without the elements.   wether it was those shredder classes or maybe she's just a natural, we were pretty surprised at her abilities.  we were able to spy on her at the end of her class.  she was able to get around on her skis, get on the magic carpet and ride it by herself.  and glide down the kids hill with a little assistance from her instructor.  the teachers said she had the most fun out of all the kids and was the only one begging to go out for more skiing!  great job lucy!  can't wait until your riding with us little shredder!

we extended our stay an extra night when we heard there was a storm coming in.  that was a great decision we got to ride on some fresh powder sunday.  overnight the town of breckenridge was transformed into a snowy winter scene.  blessed to live so close these great mountains!

better late then never...

halloween costume this year, she pitched a fit at the pearl st munchkin masquerade but then cheered up and had a blast trick or treating in our old neighborhood with all her friends.

i broke the hot chocolate out one day when we were housebound and it was below freezing temps.

she still wanted to go outside and play in the fresh snow even though it was freezing.

holidays

the holidays are here and we've been up to a lot of holidayey (i made a new word) things.
after the low key thanksgiving last year we decided to really do it up this year and gather our new friends we've made here in boulder.  we hosted 12 adults and 10 kids!  it was a lot of fun and probably has been the least stressed out party i've hosted.  i didn't have to cook the turkey for one and everyone brought a few dishes to share.  we had a lot of yummy food and it was a great day with friends.  so thankful for friends.

on another night we drove up to the boulder star and hiked up right underneath of it.  this star is pretty special, you can see it from miles away.  its on the side of green mountain that overlooks boulder.  and every night beginning in november its lit up.  the star feels special to us because its the first thing we noticed right after we moved to boulder.  it was november and we were in a rental right on pearl street with views of the star every night from our balcony.  it reminds me of all the emotions we felt right after we moved.

lucy and her little friends went to a sugarplum fairy tea party last sunday.  they got to drink tea and have scones and little sandwiches.  they sat and watched a mini production of the nutcracker then got their pictures taken with the sugarplum fairy.  we've been reading lucy the nutcracker every night to prepare her.  nate also bought tickets to take us all to see the big nutcracker production this weekend. i'm pretty excited to see it with lucy.  i think she's going to enjoy it.
